For most owners and breeders of Bullmastiffs the question of whether they should acquire breed club membership does not have a dual answer. They are assured that club membership and activities
in which they are involved in is what helps them better understand their dogs and make responsible owners. Indeed, club membership is an important step on the way to perfecting breedings and the Bullmastiff.

Nowadays, there are many Bullmastiff organizations in the United States and around the world. The first breed club appeared in Great Britain. Evidently, it was due to the fact that Great Britain is the motherland of the breed. The British always tried to improve the breed and educate breeders and owners on the issue of raising these huge dogs. However, US breeders did not yield to the British in their devotion to the Bullmastiff.
Nowadays, the American Bullmastiff Association, Inc. is one of the most influential bodies in the United States. It operates in the ward of the AKC and encourages all affiliated clubs to follow the official breed standard when breeding their Bullmastiffs. The ABA has a number of regional clubs that are involved in organization of matches, specialty shows, obedience trials, and rescue work.
Bullmastiffs - Breeders - Adopting A Rescued Dog
Before adopting a dog take into consideration all the costs involved and decide if you are ready to be involved with such huge dogs as Bullmastiffs. Keep in mind that Bullmastiffs live from 8 to 10 years. And, see if you will be able to meet all its needs.
Bullmastiffs are big dogs that can weigh from 100 to 130 pounds. Though they do OK when left alone, they need to be kept indoors, since they are people-oriented. Do not give up the idea of adopting a Bullmastiff in case you have children. The breed is known for its loyalty and balance. However, it is doubtful that Bullmastiffs will satisfy your children's needs for play and interaction.
